Omega 1.1.0 – Updates

There are a few important changes in this latest version Omega 1.1.0:
– removed Shortcodes in Omega theme.
– removed theme layout

If you still want to use Omega shortcodes and theme layout option, please install and activate Omega Legacy plugin.

NOTE: This plugin requires Omega 1.1.0 or higher

WordPress theme repository updated theme requirement and disallow Shortcodes usage in theme. Also, we want to inline our themes to the guideline, keep future compatibility with WordPress development and allow Omega user easily and creatively customize the theme via child theme.

what do we do with the plugin? will it help get our website working properly again?

Edit: I copied the content of the plugin in every single folder there was in the Omega theme AND the Omega child, website still won’t work like it did before.
I don’t get it, if something was working just fine, why break it on purpose? Only in the software world…

You simply need to upload and activate the plugin as a plugin, not copy it to theme folder.
I didn’t take the changes lightly, it’s a new requirement from WordPress theme repository that we must follow
