    Hi there

I am really liking the ‘Church’ theme and, in general, I believe it is doing what I want.

However, in respect of Comments on Posts, I am confused. In the Theme Settings, I have set the checkbox to allow comments on Posts, but not Pages, and I have left trackbacks unchecked for Pages and Posts. Yet I cannot see the ability to add a comment to a post.

Additionally, I see in Theme Settings that ‘Comments and Trackbacks can also be disabled on a per post/page basis when creating/editing posts/pages’ yet I cannot find the relevant options in Posts. In passing, I am setting the site to allow registered users to post by email, and I would like to enable Comments globally, preferably by post category. Is that a function that I need to find in PlugIns, or am I right to be looking to the Theme Settings?

Thank you for a great Theme…

Please go to “Settings > Discussion” and make sure everything is setup correctly there.

    Hi Han

    Thanks for your response.

In Settings>Discussion, I’ve toggled each setting, testing the response after every change. Nothing I did allowed a logged in user to comment on a post. In every case, the message remains at the foot of the post that ‘Comments are closed, but trackbacks and pingbacks are open.’ even though I explicitly disabled trackbacks and pingbacks. Over an hour, it took!

I understand that there are also settings in Posts that can override the Discussion settings, but I cannot find anything in the individual posts settings that I could understand as having any bearing on Comments.

Can you think of anything else that may enable comments on posts by logged-in users?

    Kind regards
    JB

I cannot reproduce the issue. Can you send me your site url and admin login through this contact form ?

    Hi Han

Thanks for following up on this. Several issues, the topic of this thread being only one of them, with the concept of members leaving comments have moved us to use a private FaceBook group rather than WP for that particular element. So please mark this topic as closed as far as the original post is concerned.

We’re still using your ‘Church’ theme and loving’ it!

    Thanks
    JB

I love this Church theme but I have discovered a problem. What was the conclusion to this post then? I seem to have a similar problem. I added Akismet to the site last year, but since November I haven’t gotten anything coming through. I can see all my comments in the admin part from when it worked, but nothing shows up on my Posts/Customer reviews page, not even the part where you write the comments. What can i do?
In Settings/Discussion the only ones ticked are:
Allow people to post comments on new articles
Comment author must fill out name and e-mail
    Comment must be manually approved
Since this is for the Customer reviews and I want people to post comments on the site about their experience at the restaurant, this is vital for the site. http://www.ilpostovictoria.co.uk
    Please help
