Modify Church theme or build new child-theme on Omega

I like the Church child-theme very much, but I want to make some changes: more than just CSS. Is it safe to change the Church child-theme, or will it break when there’s an update? Or should I make a new child-theme of my own, starting with Omega?

If you want to maintain theme update, you can use Code Snippets plugin, and customize the theme via hook. Starting your own Omega child is also great option

Thank you Han. I will try making my own Omega chid. Need to learn some PHP first, though.
