Remove "published on" from post. plain WP

Hello,
I’m super new to this, 24 hours of frustration and counting, the code is freaking me out.
I have been searching the net for a way to remove the “published on” “published by” “category” info that is defaulting under each post.
None of the solutions I have found on the net work. I don’t know if the codes bad or i’m just not inserting it in the right spot.

You can find and replace the text in content.php and all content-postformat.php files.
