I am using the church theme on my site.

In the past I have always created child themes so that I could customize the styles.css files and not worry about losing the changes when the theme updates.

My understanding is that when working with the Omega Framework that the
Church theme are already child theme.

So, when I customize the styles.css file, wouldn’t I lose the changes
when the theme is updated. I know that I’m fine if the Omega framework is
    updated.

But how can I keep my customizations when the church theme itself is
    updated?

The easiest way to keep your custom css is go to “Appearance > Customize > CSS” and write your custom css to override the church stylesheet.

    Thank you.

For me not so easy. I’m not a code genius and it is helpful to me if I can find the code within the style sheet itself. It helps me to see the current code that I’m going to change in relation to the other code around it. I can just add a snippet of code like display: none; and not have to figure out what part of the code I need to include in the custom css box and possible miss brackets and the like.

But if I did go that route, would that customized code that I put in the custom css box stay in tact when there is an update?
