I just switched existing site to Church theme. Love choices for customization, I added a new header image and it appeared fine in the preview. However, when I designated it as the static homepage, the header image disappeared, a space between menu and content appeared instead with some squished overcast duplicate hotlink in the space between menu and content. However, all of the other pages appear fine. I have limited knowledge of adding CSS corrections. Please advise. And thanks. thesecondprinciple.com

Please download the latest church theme here. That should fix your issue

Well I did that twice as there have been two updates since I posted this question. Neither download added the featured image to my homepage. The page looks somewhat consistent with the added media but it would be nice to know why the featured image appeared in previewed pages and then disappeared as soon as I designated it as my static homepage. I had a series of menus cached before I switched to the Church theme. Is it possible that their very existence is causing the problem?
